Program Requirements for Organizations

Expectations for Nonprofit Organizations

Organizations should be willing to make the following commitments in order to participate in the Board Fellows program:

  • Invite Board Fellows to attend all board meetings and any relevant committee sessions .
  • Identify a project where an MBA skill set will help advance a critical organizational issue that can be meaningfully completed within a 40-hour timeframe between November and May.
  • Work with the Board Fellow to develop project scope, define key issues and target key deliverables.
  • Identify a mentor for the Board Fellow, preferably the executive director or a member of the board.
  • Prepare to spend an average of two hours per week assisting the Board Fellow with project analysis.
  • Attend the opening and closing sessions of the Board Fellows program.

Timeline

  • Written applications due from organizations (August 31, 2008)
  • Organization and Board Fellows' interview process (Early October, 2008)
  • Kick-off reception for Board Fellows and organizations (Mid-October, 2008)
  • Board Fellows attend meetings and complete projects (November - May)

Application for Nonprofit Organizations

Who Should Apply

501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations who have a defined project and will provide a mentor/advisor to guide students.
